Broken Fully Funded

The complete e-book edition of Broken: a Tragic Romance Game has successfully itchfunded in a little more than 24 hours. We at APON Games can't give enough thanks to all of you for backing, supporting, and sharing the game with others. If you've already read the ashcan edition, you know that Broken is a part of my story, it is deeply personal to me. My hope is that now many more of you will take this part of my story and tell your own stories of heartbreak, perhaps even discovering hope, empathy, and healing along the way.

We are onto our stretch goal already: a set of Scenarios written by an exciting group of writers and game designers. We'll post more details about that soon, but for now you can check out the list of designers on the campaign page for more information. Each Scenario will contain a narrative description of a couple, two characters to play, their "meet cute" story, five traits each, and ten objects to break. The Scenarios will be an easy way to pick up and play the game, or it can add inspiration for your own scenario. I'm excited to see what they come up with, so I look forward to us funding that stretch goal. We can't do it without your help, so please continue sharing and hyping up the campaign. We're just getting started!

The goal we just funded was to complete the e-book edition of the game. That means we are taking the ashcan edition of the game, and putting it through additional design, editing, and layout consultation to create the best version of the game that you can bring to the table. Now that we're funded, we'll be getting to work to finalize the e-book so we can get it to you. Currently, our plan is to get the final e-book to you in October.

In addition to sharing the game with others, another thing that you can do to help the Broken campaign is give it a rating here on itch.io. Your five star rating would be a huge help to expand the audience of the game and help us hit that next stretch goal. We'd also love to hear your play stories. They would make great reviews of the game, social media posts, or join us on discord we would love to have you there!

Yesterday, we also dropped this actual play podcast episode featuring Broken. Pod of Love, the romance and relationship actual play hosted by the team behind Broken, is running a miniseries of actual plays. This episode is the first of two parts featuring Shawn Delp and Meghan Martin playing a really emotional, sad story using Broken and taking place in our own fictional town of Charity, Maine. It's a really well done actual play of the game, and I hope you'll give it a listen!

I have more thanks than I can express for helping bring my dream of a game inspired by my own painful experience into something producing fun experiences and new stories. I'm excited to see what's next for Broken.
